Muslims got Pakistan on 14th, Hindus got Hindustan on 15th but Sikhs missed the bus

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Extending its greetings to the Muslims of Pakistan and Hindus of Hindustan for enjoying the fruits of their independence, the Dal Khalsa rues that Sikhs were not lucky enough to get their own Homeland 72 years ago.

Commemorating their organization’s 41st foundation day, the Dal Khalsa reiterated their commitment to the cause of Punjab independence through right to self-determination.

Party head H S Cheema said, “Muslims got Pakistan on August 14th and Hindus got Hindustan on 15th while Sikhs missed the bus.” He said since then, Sikhs have been striving for their own independent homeland.

The Sikh group has resolved to observe August 13 every year as “Azaadi Sankalp Divas’.

Party spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh said all promises made to the Sikhs by Indian leadership before and after 15th August 1947 have not been honored. “Since the transfer of power in 1947, Indian leadership has cheated and deceived the Sikhs,” he added.

To mark India’s Independence Day, the Dal Khalsa, along with Akali Dal (Amritsar) and United Akali Dal, is organizing protests throughout Punjab on Aug 15.  It has been 72 long years since India got freedom, but nothing has changed for Sikhs.

“Carrying black flags, our activists will stage protest at Chandigarh on 14th and in 15 districts of Punjab on 15,” he informed.
