Sikhs have endured grave injustices in India but a similar shouldn’t happen with Kashmiris, says Giani Harpreet Singh

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Reacting to the Indian government’s move of scrapping Article 370, the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has said that the BJP government must take the Kashmiri masses into confidence on this issue. He has said that the Union government must take care of the sentiments of Kashmir masses as it is necessary for the peace of J&K.

“If the Kashmir masses are taken into confidence and their rights are defended by the government then there will be low risk for disturbance of law & order in J&K,” he said.

Expressing concern over the safety of Sikhs living J&K, Giani Harpreet Singh said that the responsibility of security of the lives and properties of J&K Sikhs comes onto the Union government.

Giani Harpreet Singh further said that the Sikhs have endured grave injustices after independence from the Indian regime and when they stood up against these injustices, they were labeled as “terrorists” and “separatists”. He added that a similar shouldn’t happen with the Kashmiris.
