:dateline:In a meeting of the Khalra Mission Organization (KMO) at Amritsar, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra announced that themain issues for political parties during the 2017assembly elections should includethe fake encounters of Sikh youth by Punjab police, the drug epidemic, thedebt of farmers, and the investigations into theproperty holdings of politicians and bureaucrats.
KMO leaders stated that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government had made claimsof making India corruption free, but the recent scam regardingthe Reserve Bank of India has shown that this is not the case. The Punjab government is guilty of participating in that scam, ascam worthRs. 12000 crore. They added that an independent investigationinto the scam couldreveal more hidden facts.
As per theReserve Bank of India (RBI), Akaligovernment had taken Rs 12,000 Crore loan from various national banks to purchase food grains. However, investigations revealed that the Government purchased no foodgrains. This money was loaned by the Government to purchase foodgrains from farmers as they were unable to sell their crops.
The KMO leaders asserted that the central government was implementinganti-farmer policies, giving subsidies ofup to Rs. 586,000 crore to the corporate sectordespite ascam of 45,000 crore by telecommunication companies. ”Despite tolerating such huge losses, the Central government was still not ready to make the poor farmers debt free,” saidKMO leaders.
The KMO leaders were highlyappreciative of the anti-drug campaign initiated by S. Navtej Singh Guggu. They saidthat Guggu was being threatened by the government, who should instead have been arresting the drug dealers. They claimedthat the Akali Dal-led Punjab government was promoting drugsacross the state and notorious police officers involved, like Izhar Alam, werebeing rewarded with high posts. The Badals should be ousted from SGPCs voter list due to their anti-Sikh policies,” they added.
Those present at the meeting included: Chaman Lal, Bhai Baldev Singh Shaghna, Bhai Gurjit Singh Tarsikka, Bhai Gopal Singh Khalra, Bhai Mohinder Singh Lalpura, Bhai Santokh Singh Kandiala, Bhai Kabal Singh Jodhpur, Bhai Sewa Singh Deol.
