Khalra Mission Organization discusses important issues for upcoming elections

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—In a meeting of the Khalra Mission Organization (KMO) at Amritsar, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra announced that the main issues for political parties during the 2017 assembly elections should include the fake encounters of Sikh youth by Punjab police, the drug epidemic, the debt of farmers, and the investigations into the property holdings of politicians and bureaucrats.

KMO leaders stated that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government had made claims of making India corruption free, but the recent scam regarding the Reserve Bank of India has shown that this is not the case. The Punjab government is guilty of participating in that scam, a scam worth Rs. 12000 crore. They added that an independent investigation into the scam could reveal more hidden facts.

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Akali government had taken Rs 12,000 Crore loan from various national banks to purchase food grains.  However, investigations revealed that the Government purchased no foodgrains.  This money was loaned by the Government to purchase foodgrains from farmers as they were unable to sell their crops.

The KMO leaders asserted that the central government was implementing anti-farmer policies, giving subsidies of up to Rs. 586,000 crore to the corporate sector despite a scam of 45,000 crore by telecommunication companies.  “Despite tolerating such huge losses, the Central government was still not ready to make the poor farmers debt free,” said KMO leaders.

The KMO leaders were highly appreciative of the anti-drug campaign initiated by S. Navtej Singh Guggu. They said that Guggu was being threatened by the government, who should instead have been arresting the drug dealers. They claimed that the Akali Dal-led Punjab government was promoting drugs across the state and notorious police officers involved, like Izhar Alam, were being rewarded with high posts. “The Badals should be ousted from SGPC’s voter list due to their anti-Sikh policies,” they added.

Those present at the meeting included: Chaman Lal, Bhai Baldev Singh Shaghna, Bhai Gurjit Singh Tarsikka, Bhai Gopal Singh Khalra, Bhai Mohinder Singh Lalpura, Bhai Santokh Singh Kandiala, Bhai Kabal Singh Jodhpur, Bhai Sewa Singh Deol.
