Saroop Catches Fires Near Patti

PATTI, Punjab— Last week, at 4:30 am on March 27, in village Talwandi Mohar Singh near Patti, a saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji was found partially burned. The incident took place in Gurdwara Baba Jivan Singh, located in a village under the jurisdiction of Rural Police Station of Tarn Taran. Just four months ago, in November of 2015, in the village of Kot Budha near Patti, another saroop of Guru Granth Sahib had been found desecrated.

The Granthi Singh of the Gurdwara Sahib told Sikh24 that when he was preparing ‘Karah Prasad’, the electric wires within the Gurdwara Sahib short-circuited and caught fire due to a voltage fluctuation of  the transformer. Due to this short circuit, the cloth covering the Guru Granth Sahib Ji caught fire. As soon as the appointed Granthi saw the fire, he managed to control it, but by then Guru Granth Sahib Ji was already partially burned.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Devinder Singh Sandhu and Station House Officer Bikram Singh said they immediately rushed to the location of the incident. SHO Bikram Singh said that a report has been registered in the police station and that the police were further investigating the incident. He added that the damaged parts of the saroop have been sent for cremation at Sri Goindwal Sahib.

Harminder Singh Gill at Gurdwara Sahib speaking with local sangat and sevadars

Harminder Singh Gill, former president of the All India Sikh Student Federation, stated that the fire needs to be investigated.  He said that after speaking with local sevadars and sangat, it appears that the circumstances were mysterious.  “I visited Gurdwara site and talked to different people,” he said. “I fail to understand that why in Punjab only [the] game of desecration is going on?”

Satkar Committee Chief, Bhai Balbir Singh Mucchal, said, “SGPC is making hefty profit from Gurdwaras but not providing any kind of safety for Guru Granth Sahib Ji.  Aside from press statements, SGPC has not done [anything] to safeguard saroops of Guru Sahib, despite such incidents happening on regular basis.”  He said that the SGPC should look into rewiring all Gurdwaras and making sure short circuits do not take place in the future.

  1. You must answer this question as to why only in Punjab and not rest of India is Sri Guru Granth Sahib desecrated..
It is a design to Push Punjab back to the 1980-1990 Bhinderwla -Indira period .

    • It is done in Punjab because Punjab is Sikhi’s religious homeland historically and heartland in terms of Sikh population per capita of any state in India i.e. there are more Sikhs there than anywhere else in India so if you can get away with desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji there you can take it as read you can get away with it everywhere else without any problems or resistance.

  2. 1) Hinduvta agents and their proxies (such as paid drug addicts) are doing it. A number have been caught and released and one was even posing as a Nihang at Anandpur Sahib as an infiltrator.
2 & 4) They are doing it to see how far they can have got and can still go with emasculating Sikhi in Punjab which is the ultimate aim. They have used decades of police extra judicial atrocities against Sikhs and successfully infiltrated the Sikhi leadership of the corrupted Akali Dal and SGPC which have enacted anti-Sikh policies – giving pardons to heretics like Ram Rahim, denigrating the principle of Miri Priri and the role of the panj pyare etc. To desecrate Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the ultimate test. If you do that and Sikhs are too feeble to protest you know you have sufficiently weakened if not broken the martial spirit of the Sikhs which is required if the next step on the Hinduvta agenda is to be achieved. Namely this is the total subjugation of the Indian Muslim and Christian populations which unlike Sikhism can be branded as anti national and foreign as both those religions were birthed in the middle east.
    3) First of all Sri Guru Granth Sahib is NOT a holy book but the 11th final and everlasting GURU of the Sikhs. As such it as the equivalent place as a messiah in Christianity and prophet in Islam – it is not just a holy book to be lumped along other religious scriptures. The Islamic and Christian faiths in Punjab are inconsequential in number to the Sikh majority which is perceived as the greatest threat to Hinduvta and so has to be eliminated first. That is why NO Hindu Mandirs are attacked and desecrated as Sikhs regard such temples as being places of worship and therefore sacrosanct unlike the Hinduvta mafia.

  3. Question which need answer

    1) Who is doing it?
    2) Why do it ?
    3) Why only Guru Granth Sahib and not other holy books
    4) Why Only in Punjab and not rest of the world.

    • The Indian Express has published an article on Punjab ‘ghar wapsi’ programme dated March 28, 2016 which perfectly shows what the Hinduta mafia are up to in their divide and conquer policy. Why did Modi (head of HInudvta party BJP and affiliate to terrorist Hindu organisation the RSS) agree to ‘Sehajdhari’ Sikhs have been barred from voting in SGPC polls? ‘WITH THE Rajya Sabha passing a legislation barring Sehajdhari Sikhs from voting in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections, Hindu organisations have launched a campaign, including on social media, asking the 70 lakh-strong community to “identify with their origins and join Hinduism”. While the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has started “village-level interactions” to “enlighten” Sehajdhari Sikhs, a little-known outfit called Hindu Nyay Peeth has started distributing pamphlets in some villages of Ludhiana and Bathinda to convey that Hinduism was “always open” for them.
“The interactions have started in rural Punjab and soon seminars will be held at the grassroot-level to tell Sehajdhari Sikhs that they are not different from Hindus. We have no problem with Sehajdharis remaining in Sikhism, if they get respect and rights but if not, they should turn towards their origin. There is no need to get forcefully converted to Christianity or Islam,” said Sukhpal Singh, national executive member, VHP.
On March 16, the Rajya Sabha passed the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill 2016, excluding the Sehajdharis from voting in the fiercely contested SGPC elections, mostly won by the Shiromani Akali Dal and its allies. The Bill is expected to come up in Lok Sabha next month.’ By attacking Sri Guru Granth Sahib and desecrating him they can say that those ‘Sikhs’ who protest such beadbi – and they are obviously going to prominently be baptised adherents bearing the readily identifiable visual aspects of a Sikh that ‘Harinder’ takes great exception to – uncut beards and hair, turbans, kirpans et al – are ‘orthodox’, ‘hardliners’ in their ‘over-reaction’. Breaking off Sehajdarhi Sikhs who by definition have a much fainter conviction they can rebrand baptised Sikhs as then being ‘radicals’, ‘extremists’, and ‘militants’ and then use ‘justifiable’ force to brutally repress them if not outright kill them as has already happened with 2 Sikhs protesting beadbi who were shot dead by Punjab police officers who have now mysteriously disappeared into the ether.

  4. What a coincident …. this only happens in Gurdwaras to Guru Granth Sahib Ji – very convenient. The agencies are behind this and whilst Badal Government is in power – this will go on and no culprits will be found – we just need to be vigilant.
