427th Parkash Purab of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Celebrated

The Sikh sangat today celebrated the 427th Parkash Purab of sixth Sikh master Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. A religious event was held on this occasion in which Hazoori Raagi Jatha of Bhai Satnam Singh Koharka performed Gurbani Kirtan following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib.

Addressing the Sikh sangat on this occasion, SGPC appointed officiating Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said that Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji’s life was matchless in which he conquered all the four battles he fought against the oppressive regime.

“During the Mughal empire, there was a perception that no one can defeat the Mughal rulers but Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji broke this perception while setting an example to fight against the oppressive rulers,” said Giani Harpreet Singh.

Giani Harpreet Singh congratulated the Sikh masses on this occasion while encouraging them to follow the path enlightened by Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji.

It is pertinent to note here that Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji had adorned two swords Miri and Piri. The Miri represented the Temporal Power while the Piri represented the Spiritual Power, one to smite the oppressor and the other to protect the innocent.
