AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab: The Third Panthic Assembly held virtually due to pandemic situation on Saturday accused the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), its former ally BJP and ruling Congress of playing �anti-Sikh� role in the case of Guru Granth Sahib�s sacrilege in Bargari and playing with the sentiments of the Sikhs.
The Panthic Assembly was organized with the Panthic Talmel Sangathan which is led by former Takht Sri Damdama Sahib jathedar Giani Kewal Singh. Total three resolutions were passed during the assembly.
�The sacrilege took place during the regime of SAD-BJP government in 2015, but the SAD did nothing to stop the sacrilege and punish the perpetrators. For want of the votes of a section of the people associated to Sirsa based dera, it spared the culprits. Before coming to power, the Congress promised to deliver the justice to the Sikhs in this case, but it�s been four years since it came to the power, but failed to deliver its promise. On the other hand, the BJP is known for facilitating Dera Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim who is also accused in sacrilege case, in the jail�, reads first resolution.
It appeals to all the political parties to stop playing with the Sikh sentiments on this sensitive issue and deliver justice to the Sikhs.
A committee comprising SGPC member Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, former member Advocate Jaswinder Singh, Harbans Singh Kalra, Rana Inderjit Singh, Khushhal Singh, Balwinder Singh Jaurasingha and Rachhpal Singh was set to draft constitution of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to make it free from the political influence. As Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib which represents sovereignty and independence of Sikhs, is under the influence of a political party, this committee will also come up with a draft suggesting how could glory of the highest Sikh temporal seat be restored.
