Akhand Path Sahib starts at Akal Takht Sahib to commemorate June 1984 Ghallughara

Sri Akhand Path Sahib started today to mark the annual martyrdom ceremony on June 6, to offer homage and respect to the martyrs including Sikh men, women, and children, who got martyred during the military attack by the Congress government of India on Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib in June 1984.

On this occasion, the ardas (prayer) was offered by Bhai Sukhdev Singh and additional head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Bhai Malkit Singh recited the holy hukamnama for sangat (devotees).

Talking at this moment, SGPC president Jagir Kaur said, “Like every year, the Shaheedi Samagam (martyrdom ceremony) with regards to June 1984 ghallughara (holocaust) will be marked on June 6. Dedicated to this occasion, Sri Akhand Path Sahib has been started today (on Friday). Sentiments of Sikh run high this week. I appeal to the sangat to pay homage and respect to the martyrs keeping in view the sanctity and sensitivity of Ghallughara Day on June 6.”

Devotees do darshan of bullet-hit holy saroop on day two

On day two of public display, the devotees continued to do darshan (glimpse) of holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib which was hit by a bullet when enshrined at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib in June 1984. This holy saroop were made public by the SGPC yesterday (on Thursday) and are enshrined for darshan to sangat at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Gurbakhsh Singh up to June 5.
