As the pandemic situation is worsening day by day in Punjab, count of the persons who died of Covid-19 was 142 on Wednesday (April 28, 2021), which is the highest ever single-day death count till now due to the outbreak.
Constant surge is being recorded in the Covid-19 cases. Shortage of Oxygen has further deteriorated the circumstances. Six patients died while gasping for oxygen in a private hospital in Amritsar. Even after these deaths, supply of the oxygen could not become normal.
Keeping in view of the vulnerability of the situation, Amritsar Member of Parliament Gurjit Singh Aujla has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to import the oxygen from Lahore in Pakistan, especially for the patients in the hospital of Amritsar and other areas of the border belt. However, the plea has not been entertained.
As you are well aware of the fact that our hospitals are facing an alarmingly high shortage of liquid oxygen, ventilators, Bi PAPs, oxygenators, PPEs etc., due to a spike in Covid19 cases. In response to this emergency, our neighbouring countries have offered help which should be welcomed with open arms. The government of Pakistan and Edhi Foundation has offered to provide relief support to India to help us fight this deadly wave of Covid-19, he said, addressing the PM.
