‘India among most corrupt countries, where is Ram Rajya?’, says senior BJP leader

Former Health Minister of Punjab and BJP’s senior leader Laxmi Kanta Chawla has expressed deep worry over India being placed as one of the most corrupt countries of the world saying that slogans of establishing ‘Ram Rajya’ here have turned out to be empty in such a situation.

Without naming his party BJP which talks about establishing ‘Ram Rajya’, she criticised its government in Centre referring to the report of ‘Transparency International’, an international organisation.

“I have heard very bad news. On one side, we are preparing for celebrating 75th anniversary of liberation of this country, on the other ‘International Transparency’ which is a global body working to eradicate the corruption from the world, has counted India in 10 most corrupt countries of the world in its fresh report”, said Chawla in a video released by her on March 12, 2021.

He pointed out, “Where is the Ram Rajya we are talking about? Shall we able to talk about Ram Rajya? Shall we able to talk about the honesty now? Shall we able to talk about rule by the people, of the people and for the people? If we have been placed in 10 most corrupt nations, it means our people are suffering and in distress. I pray to Ram Jee to save this country”.

“Are we living in the country of Ram Jee and Guru Nanak Dev Jee? This is worrisome situation for the people of this country. Now, they should not mourn over it, but fight against this woe. They should ignite themselves to burn this corruption”, she added.

Based in Amritsar Sahib, Chawla is known as hardcore Hindu leader of Punjab and vocal against Sikh nationalism. She usually makes statements against the Sikh militant movement. However, her fresh statement which corners her own party government, has surprised all.

Notably, the BJP which is political wing of Hindu fanatic organization RSS, wants to formally convert India into ‘Hindu Rashtra’ in the name of “Ram Rajya”.

Prior to this, she also exhorted the Modi government to resolve the issue of farmers who are agitating against three farm laws enacted by Modi government to liberalize the agriculture sector in India, that will pave the way for farm land coming under the control of Corporate companies. The farmers are deeply worried over the development and spearheading the indefinite protests on the borders of India’s national capital New Delhi.
