Saka Nankana�s martyr Lachhman Singh�s portrait to come up in Central Sikh Museum

SGPC president Bibi Jagir’Kaur’ discussing Sikh issues with Sikh intellectuals in Amritsar

In an executive meet today, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has made several decisions related to Sikh affairs. A brief interpretation of these decisions is as follow:

  1. The SGPC has decided to assign the sewa of installing a solar system in the world�s most extensive community kitchen Sri Guru Ram Dass Langar, to the US-based Sikh organization United Sikh Mission. The United Sikh Mission will bear the whole expenditure of this solar project.
  2. The SGPC has announced to hold the Saka Nankana�s centenary events at Godharpur (Gurdaspur) from February 19 to 21. The SGPC has chosen Godharpur because the family of Shaheed Bhai Lachhman Singh had inhabited there.
  3. The SGPC will install the portrait of Shaheed Bhai Lachhman Singh in the central Sikh museum on February 15. Notably, Notably, Shaheed Bhai Lachhman Singh was burnt alive at Gurdwara Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib by the Mahants when he struggled to get this historic shrine liberated from them during the Gurdwara Reform Movement.
  4. On the eve of the 400th Parkash Purab of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, a unique religious procession will be taken out from Gurdwara Guru Ke Mehal (Amritsar Sahib) to Delhi besides other religious events.
  5. The SGPC has asked the Indian government to take a quick decision about commuting death row convict Balwant Singh Rajoana�s death penalty to life imprisonment. Earlier, the Supreme Court had also asked the Indian government to decide it by January 26.
  6. The SGPC has announced financial aid worth INR One Million for an upcoming training centre in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) to provide professional training to the children of Sikligar Sikhs.
  7. A portrait of Damdami Taksal chief Giani Mohan Singh Bhindranwale, who had passed away on December 2 last year, will be installed in the central Sikh museum.
  8. The SGPC has sought the FIRs’ cancellation against farmers agitating to get three unconstitutional farm laws repealed.
  9. The SGPC has sought justice for the arrested young Sikh activist Nodeep Kaur.
  10. The SGPC has condoled the martyrdom of farmer youth Navreet Singh and the untimed demise of all other struggling farmers.
