Delhi Gurdwara Committee elections likely to be held on April 25

NEW DELHI, India—In a case pertaining to the preparation of voter lists along with photographs, the Delhi government has submitted its detailed schedule to conduct elections of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee before the Court.

As per this schedule, the DSGMC elections will be held on April 25 while the counting of votes will be done on April 28. The procedure of filing nominations for these elections will begin on April 1.

The AAP led Delhi state government submitted this schedule before the Court on January 29.

The last elections of DSGMC were held in February-2017 in which SAD (Badal) had won 35 out of the total 46 seats. The SAD (Badal) unit of Delhi had contested these elections without displaying photo of Badals under the leadership of Manjit Singh GK and Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

The upcoming DSGMC elections are going to witness a tough competition and the chances of defeat of SAD (Badal) are abundant this time because an eminent SAD (Badal) leader Manjit Singh GK is now standing in opposition of SAD (Badal). He is expected to cause a major damage to SAD (Badal) in Delhi by forming an alliance with other potent opponents of SAD (Badal).

However, Manjinder Singh Sirsa may be able to save the face of the Akali Dal in Delhi due to his support for the farmers protest, and other human rights causes in the past.
