SGPC honours Prabhjot Kaur for winning gold medal in archery

SGPC president Jagir ‘Kaur’ handing over a cheque of Rs one lakh to archery player Prabhjot Kaur.

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Prabhjot Kaur was honored by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today with a sum of Rs one lakh for winning a gold medal in archery at the level of Senior National Games.

Jagir ‘Kaur’, president of SGPC, handed over a cheque of the honorary amount to the sportsperson belonging to Khalsa College, Patiala and lauded her sporting achievements and appealed to the youth to take inspiration from such talented sportspersons.

The SGPC president said, “Youths are the future of the nation and it is the duty of the Sikh body SGPC to encourage them. Under the decision to give honorarium to the students and sportspersons who have made remarkable achievements in various fields, a cheque of Rs one lakh has been given to Prabhjot Kaur.”

She congratulated Prabhjot Kaur and her parents and hoped for more such achievements from this sportsperson in future.

On this occasion Prabhjot Kaur and her parents thanked the SGPC president.

The parents of Prabhjot said, “SGPC is a great organization of the Sikh community and its promotion of sportspersons was important to motivate the youth towards the field of sports.”

Several office bearers of SGPC were present on this occasion, including senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, junior vice-president Baba Buta Singh, general secretary advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, chief secretary advocate Harjinder Singh and others.
