It may be recalled here that more than 260 Sikhs were brutally martyred by the mercenaries of Mahants on February 20, 1921 at Nankana Sahib when they were struggling to get this historic shrine liberated from their possession under Gurdwara Reform Movement.

Interacting with media, SGPC’s honorary chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami informed that the SGPC is chalking out special events to mark this historic day. “An eleven-member sub-committee has been constituted under the leadership of Jathedar Tota Singh for designing the proceedings of these events,” he added.

He further informed that the SGPC has a plan to send a jatha of around 5,000 Sikhs to mark this historic event at Gurdwara Janam Asthan Sri Nankana Sahib (Pakistan).

On being questioned whether SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and other eminent office bearers will also be attending these centenary events in Pakistan, Dhami said that the sub-committee will decide on this issue in its next meeting.
