New motorway approved to halve down the distance between Lahore and Kartarpur

LAHORE, Punjab—To shrink the distance between Lahore and Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib, the Pakistan government has approved a project to construct a new motorway which will bring down the journey time from two and half hours to an hour only.

Sharing the development with media, Lahore based Babar Jalandhari informed that Tehreek-E-Insaaf party leader Chaudhary Abrar Ul Haq has played a vital role in getting this project approved. “This motorway has been approved for the facility of Indian and Pakistani pilgrims,” he added.

Babar Jalandhari further informed that the Railway Ministry of Pakistan had even proposed Indian government for constructing a railway line from Dera Baba Nanak check post to Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib. “The Pakistan government has a plant to connect Kartarpur Sahib with Lahore, Narowal, Sialkot and Rawalpindi through railway line,” he added.

He further informed that the Pakistan government has also been planning to construct a new road connecting Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib directly to Sialkot airport so that the Sikh Diasporas could reach at their historic Sikh shrine within half an hour after landing in Pakistan.

These days, the Kartarpur corridor has been lying closed due to one-sided restrictions imposed by the Indian government under the garb of coronavirus pandemic. However, the Pakistani pilgrims don’t have any restriction to visit Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib.
