In tone of Delhi Police, Capt Amarinder says, Punjabs peace under threat

:dateline:A day after Delhi Police stated the elements are active to revive militancy in Punjab with the arrest of five persons including two Punjabis, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today said in a way that peace of the state was under threat.

In a statement, Punjab Chief Minister said, Some people with no genuine concern about the cause of the protestors, try to take advantage for their own petty gains by disturbing the peaceful environment.

Both the statements have come when genuine protests of the farmers of Punjab are being vilified. Drawing imaginary dreaded objects, the Hindutva elements are spreading propaganda that anti-national elements and terrorists are among the agitating farmers. The CM has made this statement in a similar tone when parties in oppositionShiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)are alleging that he has an understanding with the BJP-led union government of India and is acting according to its policies.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday cautioned the farmers against it.

Congratulating the farmers for ensuring peace during the Bharat Bandh today, just as they had maintained peace throughout their over 2-month long protests, the Chief Minister said, there are elements that could try to take advantage of their agitation and spoil the peaceful atmosphere of the state.

On the one hand, he is making these statements hinting at the threat to the peace of the state, while on the other, he expressed happiness that the bandh was completely peaceful in Punjab, and appreciated the farmers for exercising their democratic right of protest peacefully. Even when they blocked railway tracks in Punjab, there was no violence, he pointed out, he added.

Regretting that the ongoing agitation had cost some lives, including the death of an elderly woman today, the Chief Minister announced his governments full support for the victims families.
