SGPC Member Harjinder Singh Takes Charge As New Honorary Chief Secretary

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The newly “elected” SGPC’s executive committee has appointed the SGPC member Harjinder Singh as the Honorary Chief Secretary. Earlier, SGPC member Harjinder Singh was serving as the general secretary under the presidency of Gobind Singh Longowal.

Harjinder Singh today took charge of his new post amid the presence of SGPC’s newly appointed president Bibi Jagir Kaur, senior vice president Surjit Singh Bhittewind, general secretary Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, and other SGPC members.

He was honored with Siropao (robe of honor) on this occasion by all the present SGPC officials.

Speaking on this occasion, Harjinder Singh said that he will take care of the current circumstances besides SGPC’s history and customs while managing its affairs.

Harjinder Singh has replaced Dr. Roop Singh, who had resigned after his name surfaced in the issue of missing 328 holy saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from SGPC’s printing press.

The former SGPC’s executive headed by Gobind Singh Longowal had provided a safe exit to Dr. Roop Singh before publicizing the investigation report of the Advocate Ishar Singh Committee on this issue.
