Renowned Crime Reporter Terms Sumedh Saini as “The Butcher of Punjab”

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Veteran crime reporter Baljeet Parmar, who is renowned for his courageous reporting on underworld mafia during the 1980’s and 90’s in Mumbai, has said that if he would be writing a book on the Ex-DGP Punjab Sumedh Saini then he will title his book as “The Butcher of Punjab”.

He has said that the ill deeds of Sumedh Saini are not worth forgiving but it’s unfortunate that the Indian state has been patronizing him. “What can be worse than it that a person, who deserves to be executed, got promoted to DG rank while acceding scores of senior officers?” he said.

In an interview with National Buzz, Baljeet Parmar said that the violation of human rights was prevalent in almost every police station of Punjab while the situation was totally opposite in Maharashtra where it was hard to trace cases of third-degree torture.

In reply to a question about Sumedh Saini’s excuse of fighting against terrorism, Baljeet Parmar reacted that Saini should be asked to present the criminal records of Sikh youths killed by him under the pretext of fighting against terrorism. He also recalled the brutal murder of Saini motors’ owners who were burnt alive along with their car in the furnace of a steel factory in Mandi Gobindgarh.

It is pertinent to note here that the owners of Saini motors belonged to the Hindu religion and were relatives of Sumedh Saini.

“In my view, Sumedh Saini is a terrorist himself as he did extra-judicial actions for his own vested interests,” he said.

Baljeet Parmar also said that the Badals have always patronized police officials like Sumedh Saini to use them for cornering their opponents.
