487th Parkash Purab: Religious Procession Taken out in Amritsar Sahib To Remember Guru Ram Das Ji

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—On October 31, a religious procession was taken out in Amritsar Sahib in commemoration of the 487th Parkash Purab of fourth Sikh master Sri Guru Ram Das Ji. Thousands of Sikhs attended this religious procession organized by the apex Sikh body SGPC and local Sikh bodies.

The religious procession started from the supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib amid echoes of Sikh ovations, war-drums, and trumpets following Ardas.

Sri Darbar Sahib’s head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh performed the duty of placing the holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the palanquin.

The Sikh sangat expressed devotion towards Guru Sahib by enchanting the name of the Almighty Lord during this religious procession.

A specially hired chartered plane showered flower petals on this religious procession while the local Sikhs also warmly welcomed the religious procession.

Various local Sikh bodies offered Rumala Sahibs for the living eternal Sikh master while Punj Piares and other participants were honored with Siropaos (robe of honor).

The whole staff of SGPC’s headquarters attended this religious procession while wearing ribbons inscribed “Dhan Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji” on their turbans.

Former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, who had granted an unasked pardon to rapist Gurmeet Ram Rahim, also took part in this procession along with Giani Gurmukh Singh who is another guilty of this misdeed.
