Fatehgarh Sahib Sacrilege Incident: Culprit Sent to Jail Till November 10

:dateline:The Nabha based sacrilege culprit Sehajvir “Singh”, who had vandalized the holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Tarkhan Majra near Fatehgarh Sahib on October 12, was produced before the Court on October 28 following two week-long police remand.

As the police didn’t seek an extension in his remand, the Court ordered to send him to jail till November 10.

It may be recalled here that Sehajvir “Singh” was caught red-handed while committing the sacrilege of living eternal Sikh master Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Gurdwara Sahib of village Tarkhan Majra on October 12. He is also accused of committing sacrilege in another village of Fatehgarh Sahib a few days before this incident.

The police had registered two FIRs against the sacrilege culprit at the Sirhind police station while invoking sections 18 (conspiracy) and 20 (member of terrorist gang) of UAPA against the sacrilege culprit besides sections 295-A (defilement of place of worship) and 504 (provocative act to break public peace) of IPC.

Meanwhile, senior advocate AS Dharni has said that the sacrilege culprit might be a member of the gang responsible for serial sacrilege incidents that occurred in Punjab during the year 2015.
