Hemkunt Sahib Yatra Concludes for the Year 2020

RISHIKESH, UT, India—The 2020’s pilgrimage session to the hilly Sikh shrine Sri Hemkunt Sahib concluded on October 10 due to the arrival of the winter season across North India. Notably, the pilgrimage to Sri Hemkunt Sahib usually starts in May month but this year it started on September 4 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a religious program organized to close the gates of Sri Hemkunt Sahib, Gurbani verses of Sukhmani Sahib were recited following which Hazoori Raagi Jatha of Bhai Ranjit Singh performed Kirtan.

Head granthi Bhai Milap Singh performed ardas and read the sacred Hukamnama on this occasion.

Around 1,400 pilgrims attended the closure ceremony of the 2020’s pilgrimage to Sri Hemkunt Sahib.

As per the available data, around 8500 devotees paid obeisance at Sri Hemkunt Sahib during this year’s 36 days long pilgrimage session. Stringent requirements were implemented by the State of Uttrakhand and the management board of Sri Hemkunt Sahib to ensure the safety of the pilgrims from the COVID-19 outbreak.
