Missing Guru Granth Sahib Saroops: Sikh Women Organize Protest March and Bibi Khalra Joins Agitation Against Guilty SGPC Officials

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On October 5, scores Sikh women took out a protest march within Sri Darbar Sahib complex seeking police action against the SGPC employees held guilty for missing 328 saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Their protest march started from the ongoing agitation venue near Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall and concluded at Akal Takht secretariat.

All the Sikh women held black placards and banners demanding FIRs against the persons guilty and to seek a ban all the private printing presses from printing Gutka Sahibs and other holy scriptures.

Speaking with Sikh24, Bibi Gurpreet Kaur from Amritsar said that the investigation report of Advocate Ishar Singh has held 15 persons responsible for this unfortunate incident but none of them have been brought to justice.

Sikh women protestors raked up the issue of sacrilege of hundred of holy saroops that were stuck at a port in India and said that just a few years ago, 450 saroops were transported to Canada without proper accommodations. They called for the Akal Takht Sahib to intervene in this issue.

These Sikh women also handed over a memorandum to the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar demanding action against the guilty persons. It is pertinent to note here that the SGPC has now made the entire investigation report of Advocate Ishar Singh led probe committee.

Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra Joins Agitation Against Guilty SGPC Employees

Yesterday, Khalra Mission Organization’s chief Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra joined the peaceful protest seeking FIRs against the SGPC employees responsible for the missing 328 saroops. Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra is the wife of human rights activist Shaheed Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra who was extra-judicially murdered by the Punjab police in October-1995.

Notably, the Sikh activists have been staging protest within Sri Darbar Sahib premises since September 14 demanding the publicizing of Ishar Singh led probe committee’s report and FIRs against the SGPC employees responsible for the missing 328 saroops.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra said that the SGPC was trying to get rid of the blame and hiding its affiliation with the Akali Dal Badal. She asked for the investigation report to be made public at the earliest.

Bhai Balbir Singh Muchhal reiterated his stance to carry forward this struggle till the indictment of guilty SGPC employees and publicizing Ishar Singh led probe committee’s report.
