SGPC announces to send langar for farmers staging protests against anti-farmer bills

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Following the decision of SAD (Badal) of snapping ties with BJP in protest of farm bills, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has now announced to extend every kind of support to the farmers’ struggle against these bills. Like SAD (Badal), the SGPC was earlier supporting farmers’ struggle hesitatingly.

In a press note shared with Sikh24, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has announced that the struggling farmers will be sent langar from all the SGPC run Gurdwaras of corresponding areas.

“There is a widespread outrage among the farmers due to these bills and the SGPC is committed to supporting the farmers in every possible way,” he said while adding that these bills will put a major negative impact on Punjab as it is an agrarian state.

“The farmers are the backbone of our country and it has a direct or indirect impact on almost every business sector. So, this agitation is not of farmers only instead of every business sector,” he maintained.
