Manjit Singh GK hails Akal Takht Sahib’s decision to honor Bhai Gajinder Singh, questions India’s double standards towards Sikhs

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The former DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK has hailed Akal Takht Sahib’s initiative of recognizing the sacrifices made by Sikh activist Bhai Gajinder Singh “Hijacker” while nailing those creating hue over this move. Notably, Bhai Gajinder Singh is going to be conferred the award of Panth Sevak by the supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Manjit Singh GK has questioned the credibility of those opposing Akal Takht Sahib’s move of honoring Bhai Gajinder Singh. He asked why such people remained tightlipped when the perpetrators of the 1984 Sikh genocide were honored with the ministries during Congress’ rule.

“Sikh activists like Bhai Gajinder Singh were not professional criminals, instead they resorted to such acts to highlight the plight of the Sikh community in India,” said GK.

He has also questioned the working of law in India by recalling another incident of hijacking by Bhai Manjit Singh alias Museebat Singh with a toy and then his on spot murder by the Indian state despite surrendering. “No FIR was registered to this one-sided unprovoked action of the police,” he added.

Recalling a similar incident of hijacking by the Pandey brothers in 1978, who were Hindu by religion, GK said that the duo brothers were given ministries by the Congress-led Indian government but the Sikh hijackers faced on-spot killings despite surrendering.

“You people can call them terrorists but in fact, they are real Sikh strugglers who made sacrifices for highlighting the plight of Sikhs in India,” he said.

GK also questioned why the Hindu mobs didn’t target the community of Nathu Ram Godse who killed Mahatama Gandhi like they targeted Sikhs on killing Indira Gandhi. “Was Indira Gandhi above than Mahatama Gandhi?” he questioned those opposing Akal Takht’s move of honoring Bhai Gajinder Singh.

“I fully endorse Akal Takht Sahib’s justified move of recognizing the sacrifices of Bhai Gajinder Singh as he has already served life imprisonment for the ‘crime’ he committed four decades ago,” he said.
