After 28 Years of Imprisonment, Bhai Lal Singh Pays Obeisance at Harmandir Sahib

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On August 28, political Sikh prisoner Bhai Lal Singh paid obeisance at sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib after getting permanently released from the maximum security jail of Nabha. He was accompanied by his wife Bibi Gurdeep Kaur and daughter Manmeet Kaur.

It is noteworthy here that Bhai Lal Singh has been released after serving 28 years of imprisonment.

The Union government of India had announced to release him on the eve of the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Sahib last year but his release has become possible now.

On reaching Sri Darbar Sahib, Bhai Lal Singh and his family members were honored with siropaos and a portrait of Sri Harmandir Sahib by the SGPC’s senior vice president Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, junior vice president Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa, SGPC member Bhai Paramjit Singh Khalsa and SGPC’s secretary Mohinder Singh Aahli.
