Dhadrianwale ready to lock horns with Giani Harpreet Singh over soft stance on Giani Iqbal Singh

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—While Giani Harpreet Singh, the SGPC appointed Akal Takht interim Jathedar, is on a spree to pacify the entire Panth, Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale is not too happy with him. Giani Harpreet Singh had earlier asked the Panth to boycott Dhadrainwale’s program, however, his soft-stance of Giani Iqbal Singh is not sitting well with some.

Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale accused Giani Harpreet Singh of giving a biased decision against him. On August 25, Giani Harpreet Singh had directed the Sikh sangat to boycott religious programs as well as videos of Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale.

“Giani Harpreet Singh has issued an order to murder me socially but why he is ignoring the sensitive issue of Giani Iqbal Singh’s highly objectionable statement just by giving a soft dissenting note,” questioned Dhadrianwale while interacting with media on August 25.

Dhadrianwale said that Giani Harpreet Singh is refraining from saying anything against Giani Iqbal Singh because he has political patronage of “big political figures”.

It is pertinent to note here that Giani Iqbal Singh had termed Sikh Gurus as descendants of Hindu Lord Rama’s sons Luv-Kush but Giani Harpreet Singh didn’t take action against him. Instead, Dhadrianwale insisted that Giani Harpreet Singh tried to sideline this issue by giving a mere statement against Giani Iqbal Singh’s remarks.

Dhadrianwale claimed that he was approached by a prominent political leader from Punjab with a proposal to change Giani Harpreet Singh’s direct, given Dhadrianwale is ready for compromise with the current Damdami Taksal leadership.

“During the last five years, I have faced the pressure of political leaders to go for settlement with Damdami Taksal’s chief Harnam Singh Dhumma but nobody agreed to make this settlement on the basis of logic,” he said.

Dhadrianwale also questioned Giani Harpreet Singh’s silence on different kinds of rehat maryadas (code of conduct) prevailing in different Sikh seminaries, which he coined as a direct challenge to Akal Takht Sahib’s prescribed rehit.
