Dal Khalsa holds SGPC responsible for committing sacrilege of 328 holy Guru Granth Sahib saroops

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Reacting on the news of missing 328 sacred saroops of Guru Granth Sahib, the Dal Khalsa has blamed SGPC for committing sacrilege. The organization has asserted that the need of the hour is to overhaul and rescue SGPC from the wrong hands.

Dal Khalsa head HS Cheema told Sikh24 the SGPC was once known as a premier institution of the Sikhs but now it has been reduced to a level of municipal committee plagued with corruption, nepotism, and favoritism courtesy Badals’ dictatorial attitude. He said right from 2015 onwards to date, all presidents, secretaries, and members of the publication department should own collective responsibility for institutional failure.

Those who were involved in the trade and those who collaborated by remaining silent should quit their posts and appear at Akal Takht Sahib to seek forgiveness for their sins.

On SGPC appointed acting Jathedar of the Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh expressing disagreement with Giani Iqbal Singh’s statement that Sikhs are descendants of luv-Kush, Dal Khalsa leader termed the reaction as “too little and too mild”. “Giani Harpreet Singh lacks the will-power to call a spade a spade. Giani Iqbal Singh needs strong reprimand from the Akal Takht for his illogical and absurd statement,” Cheema told Sikh24.

Party spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh said arresting youth for performing ardas for whatever cause is unlawful and painful. “Similarly, alluring youth to perform ardas in lieu of money was against Sikh ethics and principles as well,” he said. He added that two wrongs cannot make one right.

He added that the youth Gurmeet Singh detained outside Darbar Sahib on August 23, who is granthi by profession, should either be released or produced in the court. “Keeping him under detention for more than 24 hours without producing in the court is illegal and against the Supreme Court rules,” he said while adding that Gurmeet Singh’s parents have confirmed in the media that their son was under detention.
