Khalsa League: Lovepreet Singh didn’t commit suicide, he has been murdered

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Khalsa League’s activists headed by Bhai Amrik Singh Ballowal today extended condolences to the bereaved family of Sikh youth Lovepreet Singh who had “committed suicide” last week after being interrogated by the National Investigation Agency.

After taking a thorough insight into the suicide of Lovepreet Singh from his family members, Amrik Singh Ballowal said that a lot of facts behind this incident were being kept hidden. “Available pieces of evidence make it feel that Lovepreet Singh didn’t commit suicide instead he was murdered. The administration is deliberately highlighting it as a case of suicide,” he added.

Ballowal further said that accepting this incident as a case of suicide can prove dangerous for the Sikh community as such incidents may arise in the future due to inaction against the perpetrators.

“The detail of interrogation, post-mortem report and CCTV footage of Gurdwara Amb Sahib is being kept hidden to suppress the truth,” he said while questioning that why didn’t the NIA give back Lovepreet Singh’s phone to him.

Pritpal Singh Amritsar said that the Sikh community needs to take up this issue to put control over state excesses before it’s too late.

“Khalsa League is committed to help the victim family from every aspect and take up the struggle against draconian laws,” he said.
