United Akali Dal to get merged into Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic)

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Merely after six years of its formation, Bhai Mohkam Singh led United Akali Dal is ready to get merged into newly floated Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa led Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic). The merger is likely to happen on July 25 in Jalandhar.

Sharing the development with media, United Akali Dal’s senior leader Jathedar Satnam Singh Manawa said that the party president Bhai Mohkam Singh has taken this decision while considering the interests of the Sikh community.

On July 13, United Akali Dal’s general secretary Wassan Singh Zaffarwal had resigned from the party. This was another setback for the Mohkam Singh led United Akali Dal after separation of Gurdeep Singh Bathinda and several other leaders.
