Khalsa League constitutes legal panel for helping arrested Sikh youths; Issues new helpline number

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Amid rising arrests of Sikh youths by the Punjab police, the Khalsa League has constituted a panel of lawyers to look after the legal proceedings of their cases. During the past few days, the Punjab police have arrested scores of Sikh youths by fabricating fake cases under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

Sharing the development with Sikh24, Khalsa League’s head Amrik Singh Ballowal informed that a panel of lawyers has been constituted under the leadership of Advocate Abhishek Gill. “This panel will follow up the legal proceedings of all the Sikh youths arrested by the Punjab police using provisions of draconian laws like UAPA,” he added.

Sharing a newly launched helpline number, Amrik Singh Ballowal said that the families of Sikh youths facing arrest or harassment by the Punjab police can contact at +91-9872110014. “The Khalsa League will bear all the expenses of legal proceedings in the cases of arrested Sikh youths,” he added.
