CHANDIGARH, Punjab—More than five years after the theft of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s holy saroop from Burj Jawahar Singh Wala, the Punjab police have finally indicted rapist Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The move has come following the interrogation of seven Sirsa cult disciples by the Special Investigation Team.
Sharing the development with media, SIT head DIG Ranbir Singh Khatra informed that three members of Sirsa cult’s national committee have also been indicted. “We are conducting raids to arrest these three members,” he added.
Today, the SIT has also submitted the chargesheet to the Court in this case.
It may be recalled here that a holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was stolen from the Gurdwara Sahib of village Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on June 1, 2015. Later, several torn angs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were found scattered outside the Gurdwara Sahib of Bargari the same year on October 12.
All this forced the Sikhs to stage peaceful protests seeking justice but the Sikhs got bullets in place of justice.
On October 14, the Punjab police opened unprovoked firing on peacefully protesting Sikhs at Kotkapura as well as in Behbal Kalan. In Kotkapura, several Sikhs got seriously injured while two Sikhs attained martyrdom in Behbal Kalan.
A new theory has come to the fore regarding the theft of holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Burj Jawahar Singh Wala. It is being said that the national committee of the Sirsa cult had directed the block committee to commit sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in retaliation of the removal of “sacred” threads and lockets of Sirsa cult disciples by some Sikhs allegedly under the persuasion of a Sikh preacher.
