SGPC seeks action against Khawaja Rafique for using derogatory language against Maharaja Ranjit Singh

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has strongly condemned the former Pakistani minister Khawaja Saad Rafique’s act of using derogatory language against the greatest ruler of all times Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Notably, Khawaja Saad Rafique had used words ‘profligate’, ‘dacoit’ and ‘oppressor of Muslims’ for Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has said that the regime of Maharaja Ranjit Singh was based on the great Sikh philosophy in which everyone had liberty to practice their religious beliefs. “There was a social equality in his regime due to which his government had ministers and officers of all religions,” he said while adding that Maharaja Ranjit Singh also spent a lot of resources on the mosques and temples of other religions.

Longowal has asked the Pakistan government to take action against Khawaja Saad Rafique for using derogatory language against Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
