CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On the complaint of Sikh youth Gurwinder Singh, an FIR No. 0228 has been registered against five identified mobsters namely Vijender, Ravi, Hukam, Sonu and Gram Pradhan Mani Ram besides 150-200 other unidentified mobsters in the Mandi Dhanaura police station of district Amroha in Uttar Pradesh. All the mobsters have been charged under sections 127, 323, 324 and 392 of the Indian Penal Code.
Notably, Sikh youth Gurwinder Singh was attacked by a mob of Hindu residents in village Sherpur on June 14 when he was coming back on his tractor after selling crop in the market. The mobsters had disrespectfully pulled his hairs while throwing his turban in nearby open sewerage.
The FIR reveals that the mobsters had also snatched cash worth INR 60,000 from Gurwinder Singh while persecuting Gurwinder Singh.
Although, it has been clearly written in the FIR that the mobsters intended to kill Gurwinder Singh but none of them has been charged with attempt to murder.
Similarly, no section has been invoked in the FIR for showing disrespect towards Sikhism by disposing off Gurwinder Singh’s turban in sewerage and pulling his hairs.
