CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Dal Khalsa today challenged Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu to go ahead with his so-called wish and lodge FIR against Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh for his pro-Khalistan stance and see the consequences.
Party Spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh slammed Ravneet Bittu for urging CM to register FIR against Akal Takht Jathedar Gaini Harpreet Singh and two singers for expressing pro-Khalistan views. He dared him (Ravneet) to file FIR as it’s his Congress party, that was governing Punjab.
Taking serious note of Ravneet Bittu spewing venom against respectable personalities including Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and the incumbent Akal Takht chief every then and now, he said the Congress MP was provoking the Sikhs for reaction. He warned Bittu not to play with fire and keep hands off the Sikh martyrs and the Takht Jathedar.
He said it’s disturbing that CM Captain Amarinder Singh was not telling his partymen to keep shut and refrain from leveling absurd and fake allegations against the Takht Jathedar. Equally disturbing was the stoic silence of the Akali Dal and the SGPC that have shut their eyes and ears.
Dal Khalsa leader was straightforward in defending Gaini Harpreet Singh’s views on Khalistan. Being a Spokesperson of the Khalsa Panth, the Jathedar articulated the collective will of the community by saying all Sikhs nurture desire to have their homeland that is Khalistan. There’s nothing wrong or illegal in articulating or expressing the inalienable right of the community. The Jathedar neither provoked nor instigated the Sikhs especially the youth to wage any struggle to achieve the said goal, he clarified.
We believe the statement by the Jathedar on June 6 at Akal Takht was recognition to the Sikh struggle for right to self-determination for which hundreds of people have sacrificed their lives since Indian state attacked Darbar Sahib in June 1984.
