Behbal Kalan Tragedy: SIT arrests Advocate Brar whose rifle was used to create fake bullet marks on Gypsy

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On June 16, the Special Investigation Team arrested Advocate Sohail Singh Brar whose licensed rifle was used by the cops to fire bullets on their Gypsy to claim counter-firing in Behbal Kalan tragedy. On October 14 in 2015, the Punjab police cops had opened an unprovoked firing on peacefully protesting Sikhs at Behbal Kalan leaving two Sikhs dead. The Sikh protesters were seeking justice in sacrilege cases.

On June 16, Advocate Sohail Singh Brar was called up for interrogation at Camp Office in Faridkot where the SIT arrested him.

In February-2019, the SIT had presented Advocate Sohail Singh Brar as a witness but now he has named as a culprit in this case.

After Ex-SSP Charanjit Sharma, this is the second arrest in Behbal Kalan firing incident.

Son of a late Akali leader, Sohail had helped the police in creating fake bullets marks on pilot gypsy of former SSP Moga and prime accused, Charanjit Sharma, so that the police could create an alibi for self-defense.

He was presented before the Court of Faridkot’s Judicial Magistrate First Class today. The Court sanctioned five days of remand of him.
