Pakistan orders ban on all the channels run by Ahmadiyya community

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Latest updates reveal that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has released a circular directing all its regional offices to stop broadcasting of all the channels that don’t adhere to the legal norms. In this circular, the channels being run by the Ahmadiyya Jamaat have been specially mentioned and the regional offices have been strictly directed to follow the norms.

The circular also warns of strict action against the regional officers if they don’t comply with the PEMRA’s instructions.

It is noteworthy here that the Ahmadiyya Community is a minority in Pakistan. The majority of Pakistani Muslims don’t consider the Ahmadiyyas as Muslims. The Ahmadiyya population in Pakistan has often come under persecution and discrimination by the Sunni majority.
