AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—On the 36th anniversary of army attack on Darbar Sahib codenamed Operation Bluestar, Dal Khalsa today staged a symbolic ‘genocide remembrance parade’ amid COVID-19 outbreak, to pay homage to the martyrs.
The five members of Dal Khalsa marched from their party office to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, where they performed Ardas in the memory of those who perished during the assault. They were carrying Sikh Flag symbolizing Sikh sovereignty and placards in support of their mission for Khalistan.
“We are undertaking a genocide remembrance parade in Amritsar to pay homage to the people who fought and to tell the government of India that we have not forgotten and forgiven the perpetrators of the attack”, said party president Harpal Singh Cheema.
The march was symbolic in nature as the Amritsar administration citing Home Ministry Lockdown guidelines had denied permission to hold the March, like previous years, when the participants were used to be in hundreds in numbers.
Accompanied by party’s ex-president H S Dhami and youth wing head Paramjit Singh Mand, Cheema said the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain and the struggle they launched would be carried forward till the logical conclusion.
Dal Khalsa leader made a fervent appeal to the Sikh Diaspora to observe June 6 as ‘Khalistan Struggle Day’.
Summing up the heinous attack on Sikh faith, party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said, the BJP asked for it, the Congress then in government carried out and the whole of India reveled on it.
