DSGMC under fire for misinterpreting Gurbani to kill Sikh philosophy by casting shadow of Hinduism

NEW DELHI, India—The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has come under fire after the Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib authorities misinterpreted sacred Hukamnama in an attempt to kill Sikh philosophy by casting shadow of Hinduism. On April 17, the Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib authorities misinterpreted sacred Hukamnama while writing its explanation on the board installed inside Gurdwara premises.

Sikh24 has learnt that the sacred Hukamnama was from the verses of Bhagat Namdev Ji registered on Ang-693 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in which Bhagat Namdev Ji has explained how the Almighty Lord created life on earth.

However, the Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib authorities misinterpreted Bhagat Namdev Ji’s verses while portraying Hindu deities Vishnu and Brahma as the creator of life on earth.

Accusing DSGMC of intentionally misinterpreting Hukamnama Sahib, former DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK has sought DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa’s clarification on this issue. He has said that Sirsa team was following the path of Prithi Chand and his son Meharban for adulterating the sacred Gurbani to kill its divine spirit.

Terming this misinterpretation of Gurbani as a bid to loot the intellectual property of Sikhs, GK has lodged a complaint with SGPC appointed officiating Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh and has asked him to take an immediate action against DSGMC.

Meanwhile, the Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib authorities have apologized for this “mistake” while excusing that the explanation of sacred Hukamnama was referred from a website. However, the Sikhs are objecting to this excuse by saying that the DSGMC was not meant to seek an illustration of Gurbani from unauthorized websites and books.

It is pertinent to note here that the RSS as well as other anti-Sikhism forces keep on publishing literature to kill the divine spirit of Sikh philosophy through misinterpretation of Gurbani and distortion of historic facts. Their intention remains focused on casting shadow of Hinduism over Sikhism so that the Sikhs can be proved a part of Hindus.
