CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Advocate Satnam Singh Kler, who today appeared before the Mohali Court seeking anticipatory bail for Ex-DGP Sumedh Saini, has now stepped back from defending Sumedh Saini. Kler’s move has come after facing sharp criticism.
It is pertinent to note here that Satnam Singh Kler is the chairman of Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission. He is also the chief legal advisor of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).
In a video uploaded over social media, Advocate Satnam Singh Kler has claimed that the interests of Sikh community were above than profession for him. “I have observed that there is an outrage among Sikhs against me for taking up Saini’s case so I have decided to step back,” he said while excusing that he accepted Saini’s case for being a professional lawyer since the last four and half decades.
Advocate Satnam Singh Kler has also tendered an apology to the Sikh community while saying that he has given back the case file to Sumedh Saini.
