SGPC asks Punjab CM to immediately shift quarantined patients to rest houses of Gurdwaras

:dateline:SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal has once again asked the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh to quarantine pilgrims returned from Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib in the rest houses of Gurdwaras. Earlier, Longowal had also written to Punjab CM but no action has been taken yet.

Pilgrims quarantined by government in Gurdaspur

Longowal has said that all facilities are available in the rest houses of Gurdwara Sahibans so the pilgrims should be quarantined there. He asked Captain Amarinder Singh to direct Deputy Commissioners and Civil Surgeons to immediately shift pilgrims to the rest houses of Gurdwaras.

The SGPC is ready to look after these pilgrims in every way, he said.

Gobind Singh Longowal further said that the pilgrims are continually complaining about the lack of basic amenities so the administration should immediately shift them to the rest houses of Gurdwara Sahibans where hygienic living rooms along with attached bathrooms are available.

We have been asking the Punjab government to use rest houses for quarantining all the coronavirus suspects, but governments abandoning behavior is not understandable, he said.

It is pertinent to note here that the Punjab government has also quarantined pilgrims in local branches of the Radha Soami cult due to which there is an outrage among Sikh community.

SGPC appointed acting Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has also objected over Punjab governments move of quarantining the pilgrims at a place opponent to their religious beliefs.
