DSGMC seeks inquiry into vilification campaign being run against Sikh pilgrims

NEW DELHI, India—The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has slammed the Punjab government for vilifying the Sikh pilgrims returned from Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib by holding them responsible for the rise in coronavirus cases in Punjab.

DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa has said that the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh needs to tighten the reins of his cabinet ministers who are openly vilifying the Sikh pilgrims. He has said that it seems like a big conspiracy is working behind vilification of Sikh pilgrims because their sudden positive testing in Punjab is fishy in itself.

“These numbers show mismanagement by Punjab Govt. They are maligning Pilgrims to hide their governance failures. Congress leaders should mind their language and ways before people teach them a lesson,” said Sirsa while adding that this is an anti-Sikh conspiracy reflecting the poisonous mindset of Congress party and governments to malign Sikhs.

He said that the whole national media has now turned its focus on Sikhs after vilifying Tablighi Jamaat’s Muslims.

He has sought an independent inquiry into this episode so that the conspirators behind vilification of Sikh pilgrims could be unearthed.

  1. They knew the virus was spreading and chose to leave their homes and go to Hazoor Sahib. In the press they are referred to as pilgrims and I can assure you none of those people especially from Moranwali are pilgrims.
Especially the one that took the 15 people with her. If they were stupid enough to go during this time then they shouldn’t have been allowed back and should’ve been quarantined right away. They came back and went to the gurdwara in the village first and came into contact with more people. Selfish, self serving morons

  2. Sirsa ji how about mismanagement by Center. The lockdown was announced in 4 hours. This left people with no options but stuck in the places where they were. There were many appeals to home minister to ensure safety and return of Sangat at Hazoor Sahib. More than a month passed without any step from center. Three tests conducted on the Sangat were all negative. But upon return to Punjab many were found positive for Coronavirus. This raises many questions. The Sikhs are latest scapegoats to hide Centers abject failure in the proper implementation of lockdown. The media is amplifying this narrative of Muslims and Sikhs being spreaders of Coronavirus.
