European Ice Cream Manufacturing Firm Uses Sri Harmandir Sahib’s Photo for Promotion

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—A European ice cream manufacturing firm named Nuii has printed photo of holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib on one of its ice cream brick flavors. A sharp outrage is being witnessed among the worldwide Sikh community especially the one residing in European continent.

The apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has condemned the Nuii’s attempt of hurting Sikh sentiments by printing the photo of Sri Harmandir Sahib on the packing of its product.

Speaking to Sikh24, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal informed that he will write to the Nuii seeking immediate removal of Sri Harmandir Sahib’s photo from its product. “If the Nuii doesn’t remove Sri Harmandir Sahib’s photo then the SGPC will take legal action,” Longowal said while asking the European Sikhs to protest against Nuii unbearable intentional or unintentional mistake.

It is pertinent to note here that the Sikh community is coming across the rising trend of using Sri Harmandir Sahib’s photo on commercial products. In recent times, scores of commercial companies have used the photo of Sri Harmandir Sahib intentionally or unintentionally hurting the religious sentiments of Sikh community.

  1. Its July and they still have a large supply in stores with the same image. I also received the same response that they have now replaced the image with a different one, but they did not bother to recall the items already distributed. More worried about profits it seems
