:dateline:The District Administration and Municipal Corporation of Amritsar have decided to screen every citizen for Covid-19 so that the infected persons could be traced and isolated without at the earliest. Notably, approximately one and half million people live in the holy city.
Sharing the development with media, Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu said that a proactive and preemptive approach was required to win this battle against Covid-19. �We know the situation in Amritsar was not alarming, but still we have decided to take this step prevent spread coronavirus before it�s too late,� he added.
It is pertinent to note here that 10 cases of coronavirus were found positive in Amritsar out of which two have died while eight others have been isolated.
�Anyone, who came in contact of positive patient, will be screened on priority besides the areas in which positive patients lived,� informed Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu while adding that this screening is meant for every Amritsar resident.
DC Shivdular Singh Dhillon said Krishna Nagar and Sultanwind areas would be taken under a pilot project as positive cases were found here.
