AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—SGPC has offered Mata Bhag Kaur Niwas situated near Sri Darbar Sahib to the staff of Guru Nanak Hospital. SGPC has said that the Guest House is available for the use of hospital staff who are taking care of patients during the COVID-19 outbreak.
SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said that the accommodations, as well as meals, will be provided free of cost by the SGPC.
“We are ready to provide any kind of assistance to medical as well as Government workers. SGPC is always ready for the arrangements according to need,” Bhai Longowal told Sikh24.
He said that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee welcomes the hospital staff with folded hands. He added that this is a time to cooperate with each other and appreciate the service of medial workers is really important.
Meanwhile, Bhai Longowal said that free meal service to needy people is being continued by the SGPC. Apart from Punjab, langar is being served to needy people of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh from the Gurdwaras under the management of SGPC. This task is running in three zones of Punjab, Majha, Malwa, and Doaba.
Similarly, some Gurdwaras are in Haryana and the meals are being provided to needy people from the Gurdwaras there. Langar service is being provided from Gurdwara Nadha Sahib to nearby areas of Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh.
“More than 300,000 people are eating langar every day from Gurdwaras. Efforts are being done to deliver this service continuously to very needy people,” Bhai Longowal told Sikh24.
Bhai Longowal said that although, providing langar is not easy in these circumstances but still SGPC is continuously doing this service. He further said instructions have been given to SGPC employees to use precautions to continue this service.
Apart from this, langar is being sent from Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib Patiala, Gurdwara Baba Bakala Sahib and other SGPC managed Gurdwaras.
