Kabul Gurdwara Attack: Mortal remains of three Afghan Sikhs to be brought back to India today

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—As per the information shared by Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the mortal remains of three Afghan Sikhs will be brought back to India today. Notably, the mortal remains of these three Sikhs namely Shankar Singh, Jiwan Singh and Tian Singh were not cremated in Kabul as the families of these Sikhs were based in India.

“Bodies of three Sikhs killed in the ghastly #KabulGurdwaraAttack are being brought back to India tomorrow. While the families of two – Shankar Singh & Jiwan Singh are based in Ludhiana, the third Tian Singh’s family is based in Delhi. Let’s pray for the departed souls,” tweeted Harsimrat Kaur Badal on March 29.

“I appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji to take up the issue of the safety & security of the Sikh community in Afghanistan with the latter government and also Initiate an exercise to relocate all Sikhs who want to leave Afghanistan due to the growing insecurity to their lives & livelihood,” she further tweeted.

On being contacted by the media, Harsimrat Kaur Badal informed that Shankar Singh’s wife would also return with her husband’s body to Ludhiana where his six children were residing with their maternal grandparents and Jiwan Singh’s wife and children were also living in Ludhiana.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the family members of third deceased Sikh Tian Singh were based in Delhi.
