Captain asks Radha Soami cult to accommodate migrant workers

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—To stop emigration of non-Punjabi laborers amid countrywide lockdown, the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has appealed the industrial units and brick kiln owners to accommodate these laborers in their factories. He has also appealed the industrialists and brick kiln owners to pay full wages to these daily wagers and look after them.

Captain Amarinder Singh has said that the industrial units might face a labor shortage in coming months if these laborers move away from Punjab.

“Urge migrant workers to not leave their places of work in view of GOI’s directions not to allow inter-State movement. I have already appealed to State’s industry to pay full wages & look after the welfare of migrant labor. DCs & SSPs are making necessary arrangements,” tweeted Captain Amarinder Singh.

“To provide for migrant laborers stranded in Punjab without work, I’ve asked industry & brick kiln owners to resume operations if they can accommodate the laborers in their premises with food etc, while ensuring social distancing & hygiene to protect from #Covid19,” Captain wrote in another tweet.

As per a report published by the Punjabi vernacular Daily Ajit, Captain Amarinder Singh has asked the Radha Soami cult to come forward to accommodate these migrant workers in its  preachment centers what they call “Satsang Ghar”.

It is pertinent to note here that the migrant workers are helpless to move back to their villages after losing their due to countrywide lockdown. Due to unavailability of  all kinds of transportation modes, these workers are walking towards their villages on foot.
