Seva Continues at Harmandir Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh Reiterates that Sangat Should Avoid Large Gatherings

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—In a press statement shared with Sikh24 on March 25, SGPC manager Roop Singh said that the routine at Harmandir Sahib is going to continue without any interruption. “We are taking several precautions and the number of Sikhs and others coming in has naturally decreased due to the curfew, but the gates will remain open to anyone,” he stated.

Manager Roop Singh said that SGPC has already dispatched 5 buses with passengers from Harmandir Sahib who got stuck here during the curfew.

SGPC is also continuing langar seva and distributing food to people who are stuck in their houses due to the curfew. “This seva is going to continue as the state imposed curfew remains imposed,” he stated.

SGPC appointed acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh also again directed the whole Sikh community living in the entire world to recite the Gurbani Path in the morning and evening every day at home. He asked the Sikhs to pray for the sake of the whole world to recover from the coronavirus pandemic while being alert, instead of living in fear.

Giani Harpreet said in a video message on March 25 that people are being informed about the current situation by the media but some parts of media are also misguiding and making people fearful about the current situation.

He said that whole Sikh community should take care of themselves and their families according to the precautionary measures of the health department and recite Jap ji Sahib, Sukhmani Sahib, Mool Mantar and enchant Waheguru along with family by sitting separately from 10:00 am to 10:30 am in the morning and from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm in the evening every day.

He has advised Sikhs to stop wasting time in discussing this disease or being fearful from it.
