Unidentified bikers hurl petrol bombs near Shaheen Bagh and Jamia protest sites

NEW DELHI, India—Two unidentified bike-borne assailants today threw a petrol bomb on barricades installed near Shaheen Bagh where the women protesters are protesting against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act since the last 90 days. The incident took place at around 9:30 am.

Later, another biker threw a crude bomb at Jamia Milia Islamia University i.e. another site of protest against CAA.

The duo attacks came on a day of public curfew call given by Indian PM Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, the organizers of Shaheen Bagh agitation have clarified that their agitation against the anti-Muslim laws CAA and NRC will continue despite coronavirus outbreak. “We are providing masks and hand sanitizers to the protesters besides significantly reducing the gathering,” said an organizer.

“If PM Modi wants us to be safe from coronavirus, then he should have withdrawn CAA, NPR and NRC. We will hold our protest tomorrow too,” Salima, one of the protesters at Shaheen Bagh.
