Coronavirus Outbreak: Anandpur Sahib sealed, 51 medical teams in action

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On March 20, the holy city Anandpur Sahib was sealed and 51 medical teams were deployed to trace coronavirus victims as soon as the administration came to know that the Punjab’s first deceased coronavirus victim had visited Sri Anandpur Sahib during Hola Mohalla celebrations.

Notably, a septuagenarian Sikh of village Pathlawa (Banga) had died on March 19 after he was found positive for coronavirus. Later, it had come to fore that he kept on visiting several places in Sri Anandpur Sahib including a house in newly populated area of Sri Anandpur Sahib and Qila Anandgarh Sahib.

Interacting with media, SDM Kanu Garg informed that 51 health teams are continuously working under her leadership to trace coronavirus suspects and to aware common masses about the precautionary steps to be taken. “A doctor, nurses and other helpers have been appointed in every health team,” she added.

SDM Kanu Garg further informed that no suspect has been traced in Sri Anandpur Sahib but they have still send the samples of suspects for testing which were traced on the basis of information. “There are 4100 houses in Sri Anandpur Sahib and it will take two days to sanitize all the houses,” she added.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that all the pathways of Sri Anandpur Sahib have been sealed.
