:dateline:A new turning point came in the 2015 Kotkapura incident when the Special Task Force registered statements of four more witnesses including Harjinder Singh Majhi, Harjit Singh Dhapali, Harwinder Singh Wazid, and Gursewak Singh at Faridkot on March 17.
Above mentioned witnesses have testified that the Sikh Sangat was peacefully protesting against the sacrilege incidents of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji when Police officials threw sewerage water and fired bullets on them without any reason under an alleged conspiracy. The Sikh Sangat was demanding the arrest of the accused behind the sacrilege incident of Behbal Kalan, in which a saroop of Guru Granth Sahib was desecrated.
Harjinder Singh Majhi told Sikh24 that since the sacrilege incidents, multiple commissions were organized by different Government but justice is yet to be delivered. “Even the Congress party came into power in Punjab with the promise that justice will be delivered but till date, no action has been taken by any Government to arrest the culprits of the sacrilege.”
Sikh Activists to Launch Campaign to Remind Political Leaders of Their Promises
Harjinder Singh Majhi told Sikh24 that a campaign titled “Halona” has been initiated in which protests will be held outside the residences of Congress leaders seeking justice. The first protest will be held outside the residence of Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon (Faridkot) jointly by Sikh Organizations.
The protest will be entirely peaceful. “We will recite shabad kirtan and then submit our demands to Dhillon.” Earlier, a similar protest was held outside the residence of Harminder Singh Gill (Patti).
Sikh Preachers and Activists Hopeful For Justice
“We have high hopes with the SIT and I.G. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh that they will deliver justice, given they are allowed to perform their investigation without any pressure. We are confident that we will receive justice and culprits of beadbi will be put behind the bars,” he told Sikh24.
Member of the Special Task Force, I.G. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said that SIT has almost completed the investigation of Kotakpura shooting incident and now after the statements of these four witnesses, the fourth record will be presented in the court very soon. The SIT can send summon to some more witnesses for their statements in the next few days, I.G. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh told Sikh24.
