Portrait of Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi installed in central Sikh museum

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—On March 15, the apex Sikh body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee installed the portrait of veteran Akali Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi in the central Sikh museum. A religious program was organized on this occasion in which Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma was also present besides the SGPC leaders.

SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal said on this occasion that Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi always stood by the truth without any fear. “The Sikh youths need to take inspiration from the personality of such leaders to work for the high morale of the Sikh community,” he added while dubbing Talwandi as a leader devoted to Sikh traditions.

Hailing the services of Jathedar Talwandi to Sikh Panth, Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma said that Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi had inherited spirit to serve Sikh Panth from his father and he took part in various agitations.

Jathedar Talwandi’s son Ranjit Singh Talwandi thanked the SGPC for installing the portrait of his father in the central Sikh museum. “It is a matter of pride for our family that the portraits of our two generations are installed in the central Sikh museum,” he added.

It is noteworthy here that the portrait of Jathedar Talwandi’s father Jathedar Shanga Singh is also a part of the central Sikh museum.

The family members of Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi were honored with Siropaos on this occasion.
